JEE Main Exam
Pattern - Paper 1 (B.Tech/B.E.):
Mode of
Examination:
- Management team of Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct paper 1 entrance exam in both online as well as offline mode.
- In April, the pen and paper based exam of JEE Main will be conducted on the other hand, Computer Based Test (CBT) will be held in April
Medium of Language:
- Appliers are excited to know that the questions asked by you in JEE Main paper 1 will be in English and Hindi.
- But candidates appear in JEE Main exam for examination centre cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the paper will also be available in Gujarati.
Subject
Combination: Questions in paper 1 will be asked from three subjects.
All the three subjects are divided into the following three parts:
- Part A: Physics
- Part B: Chemistry
- Part C: Mathematics
Type of Questions:
- Entire questions in paper will be objective type.
- You will have to attempt Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), you don’t have another choice.
- Each question will have four options out of which only one response will be correct.
- If you fill more than one response either by mistake or other but it will be treated as wrong response and marks for wrong response will be deducted accordingly.
Total no. of
Questions:
- Total number of 90 questions will be asked by candidates in Paper 1.
- Each part of the question paper will consist of 30 questions.
Maximum Marks:
For paper 1, the total number of marks will be 360. The marking scheme of JEE
Main paper 1 is as given. For every correct response, candidates will be awarded
4 marks on the other hand for incorrect response 1 marks will be deducted per
question and there is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
Total Duration:
- Total duration of 3 hours will be provided to appliers to complete the entire paper.
- For PwD category candidates with 40% or more disability, one hour compensatory (extra) time will be given.

Explanation of JEE Main Exam
Pattern - Paper 2:
Mode of
Examination:
- Applying candidates will have to appear for paper 2 in the offline mode.
- JEE Main exam for B.Arch/ B.Planning will be a pen and paper based test.
Medium of Language:
The Medium of Language of Paper 2 of JEE Main will be in English as well as in
Hindi. Yet, the paper will be in Gujarati for those candidates who are going to
appear in cities of Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Subject
Combination: Paper 2 will comprise question from the following three
subjects divided further into three individual sections:
- Part I: Mathematics
- Part II: Aptitude Test
- Part III: Drawing
Type of Questions:
- The questions will be asked by candidates in objective type in Part 1 and part 2 o.
- Each and every question in both the parts will have four options.
- There will be only one correct response to each question.
- If you fill more than one response either by mistake or other but it will be treated as wrong response.
- In Part III questions will be based on drawing.
- You have to attempt the questions on a separate drawing sheet which will be placed inside the test booklet.
- Use colour pencils or crayons, only on the drawing sheet.

Maximum Marks:
According to the JEE Main Exam Pattern, the maximum marks is 390. In part
I and II, each correct response will contain 4 marks. On the other hand in part
III, the two questions will carry 70 marks. 1 mark per question will be
deducted in both part I and II of JEE Main paper 2 for each and every wrong
question. For the drawing section, marks will be allotted on the basis of their
drawing skill.
Duration of the
Exam: To complete JEE Main Exam, paper 2 total 3 hours will be allotted
to candidates. But, one hour compensatory (extra) time will be allotted for PwD
category candidates with 40% or more disability.

General Guidelines:
- All the applying candidates are required to check the details of JEE Main Exam Admit Card carefully such as Name, Paper, Date of Birth, Gender, Test Center before appear in JEE Main Exam.
- If you face any type of problem then immediate communicate to JEE (Main) Secretariat immediately for necessary action.
- You must reach the venue minimum 30 minutes before the examination so as to complete the registration formalities well before the time.
- The candidate must show the JEE Main Exam Admit Card on demand, for admission in the examination room/hall.
- Appliers without an admit card will not be permitted to the Exam centre.
- Candidates can carry along with them a cardboard or a clip board. Nothing should be written on it for P&P Mode.
